The Four Foundations of Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the foundational practice for awakening and discovering peace and joy in the present moment.

The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is a comprehensive online training designed to help you get established in mindfulness as a way of being, utilizing the science of mindfulness and meditation, and the principles of Buddhist psychology.

The course follows a 6-part approach to training in mindfulness:

Part 1 sets the foundation for practice by defining mindfulness, how mindfulness helps us heal, exploring the science and history of mindfulness, learning about the many benefits of mindfulness, and covering the 4 Foundations of Mindfulness taught by the Buddha.

In Part 2 of the course, we begin to explore these 4 foundations in more depth, starting with the body, observing our body from a new perspective and learning how to relate with it in a new way.

In Part 3, we explore the foundation of emotions, learning how to get a deeper awareness of our emotions and how to work with them mindfully.

In Part 4, we bring mindfulness to the mind itself, exploring our thoughts in more depth and learning ways to work with the mind rather than against it.

In Part 5, we discuss the fourth and final foundation of mindfulness, the foundation of phenomena, discussing key Buddhist teachings of reality and how we can use phenomena to help us establish ourselves in mindfulness.

In Part 6, the last part of the course, we explore teachings and techniques for cultivating happiness and freedom in the here and now. We discuss the Buddhist teaching of nirvana, take a deep look into the nature of awareness itself, and learn how we can bring our mindfulness practice to life.
